South Ashford Baptist Church (SABC) is located in the heart of South Ashford, Kent.Ashford is an expanding market town situated in the “Garden of England” which currently has a population of 110,000.Ashford is easily reached by both car and public transport and is within easy reach of the Kent ports of Dover and Folkestone.SABC opened it’s doors in September 1961 fulfilling a project started by the membership of AshfordBaptistChurch three years earlier.SABC has a membership of just under 40 and morning services regularly attract around 30 people.Morning services are supported by a talented Worship Group made up of musicians playing piano & guitar.
Adjacent to the church is a large, attractive, well maintained 4 bedroom detached manse with garage along with well tended front and rear gardens.
Activities within the church include a family club, toddler group, various youth groups, house group plus craft club and Connect – a group for adults in the community with learning difficulties. The church and hall are also used regularly by a range of community groups.
SABC has a significant presence on the Board of Directors of Beaver Community Trust (BCT). BCT is a church, charitable company which runs The Willow Centre adjacent to our church. The Willow Centre is home to, amongst others, Sure Start and Kiddie Kapers neighbourhood nursery, catering for up to 69 children. BCT also manage and run two community cafés serving the residents of, and visitors to, South Ashford. The Pastor of SABC, by virtue of BCT’s trust deeds, takes on the role of Chair of the BCT Board.
SABC is pro-active with it’s work with the local community. We are a friendly and welcoming church made up of a diverse range of people with respect to background, age and ethnicity.
We are looking for a Pastor who:
Is strong in their faith and filled with the Holy Spirit;
Is able to preach to, and teach Bible truths to, all age groups and abilities;
Is a good communicator with the ability to engage with all members of the church family in all aspects of church life;
Can provide pastoral care for the church family, and
Will take on the challenge of Chairing the BCT Board to help build on current and to establish new mission opportunities to take the love of Jesus to the community of South Ashford.
